St. Raymond welcomes any family who wishes to celebrate a funeral for their loved one. This is a difficult and emotional event in the life of a family when numerous decisions need to be made to honor the person who died, give thanks for their life, and to express our faith in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
To help alleviate these concerns, St. Raymond will make every effort to set a time for the funeral that is convenient for the family while keeping in mind previously scheduled services in the church. At St. Raymond, visitation is held in the church for one hour prior to the funeral mass.
Funeral directors and families not availing themselves of the amenities of a funeral home can make arrangements by calling the parish at 847-253-8600 during regular office hours. If a message needs to be left after office hours, a call will be returned the following day.
After the arrangements are finalized, a bereavement minister will contact the family to set up a meeting to plan the funeral mass. This is an opportunity for the family to create a personal liturgical celebration reflecting the life of their loved one. The bereavement minister will also guide the family on the day of the funeral and preside at the wake and cemetery services.
