Stewardship is a spiritual attitude and a responsive action in gratitude about who we are and what we have. Everything we have become is through the gifts and charisms, freely given to us, by a God who loves us and calls us into relationship. In that understanding comes a desire and responsibility to share, ‘give back’, in thanksgiving all we’ve been given. The vitality of Saint Raymond Parish relies on the generosity of our parishioners to serve the community.
Below are descriptions of different opportunities to share in your parish’s financial stability, either in conjunction with or in addition to your weekly/monthly contributions.
Weekly, biweekly, and monthly contributions
These two options are an easy way to offer consistent monetary support of the parish.
This option is a direct debit from your bank account initiated through the parish bank. These payments are set up and managed by the parish business office. The debits are processed on the 1st or the 15th of each month and there are no processing fees charged to the parish. Please email Mary Siefke at email@example.com to setup a phone call if you would like set up this method of contributions. You will need to provide your bank name, routing number and account number. To ensure your financial security, please DO NOT send information via email.
This option is an online giving site for parishes within the Archdiocese of Chicago, available for your weekly/monthly giving or a one-time donation using a credit card or direct debit. Payments can be charged or debited to your account on a specific date and frequency chosen. We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Please visit GiveCentral.org to set up your direct debit or credit card contributions.

St. Raymond Parish offers both weekly and monthly envelopes for cash/check contributions that are mailed quarterly to your home, if requested. In addition, these packets offer envelopes for the Archdiocese of Chicago second collections. Please let the parish office know if you need to make a change.
Additional Ways to contribute financially
If you are an employee or retiree of a company with a matching gift program, you can designate that a matching gift be given to the parish. Ask your employer if they participate in such a program.
Year-End Tax Planning
The standard deduction may have been increased, making it less likely that charitable gifts will be itemized, but there are still many ways to make a tax-advantaged gift to the Parish.
Gifts from IRA Accounts
For donors 70½ or older, gifts up to $100,000 can be made directly from an IRA account. These gifts not only count toward meeting minimum required distributions, they are not subject to income tax and can lower a donor’s total income.
Gifts of Stock
Gifts of appreciated stock are among the best ways to give, since those gifts are not subject to capital gains tax, saving you up to 20% on your gift.
“Bunching” Annual Gifts
If you would like to maintain your current annual charitable giving, but are concerned that you might not be able to itemize those gifts, consider “bunching” several years’ worth of annual gifts into a single year. You might be able to itemize in your year of giving and then take a standard deduction in the following years, resulting in tax savings.
**Please consult your tax and financial planning professionals to determine the best charitable giving strategy for you and your family.
If you have any questions, please contact Dean Hoppesch, Director of Operations. We are grateful for your commitment and generosity to St. Raymond Parish throughout the year.
