In Grateful Remembrance

With deep sadness, we mourn the death of Fr. Steve Dombrowski, a beloved priest who served the Archdiocese of Chicago faithfully for thirty-seven years. His death leaves a profound sense of loss among the many parish communities, families, friends, and brother priests whose lives were touched by his ministry.

Steve will be remembered as a man of deep faith, creativity, and joy, someone who brought warmth, imagination, and life to the parishes he served. Through his presence, leadership, and generous spirit, he helped build communities of faith where people felt welcomed, encouraged, and loved.

Over the years, he presided at countless weddings, funerals, and baptisms, standing with families at some of the most sacred and tender moments of their lives. He celebrated beginnings, blessed commitments, offered comfort in grief, and reminded all who gathered of God’s enduring mercy and hope.

Many will remember his steady guidance during difficult times, his inspiring homilies that spoke to both heart and mind, and the friendships he formed along the way. His priesthood was marked not only by the sacraments he celebrated, but by the compassion, wisdom, humor, and faith he shared so freely.

As we commend him to the loving mercy of God, we give thanks for his thirty-seven years of faithful service and for the lasting gifts he leaves behind in the lives of those he served. May he rest in peace, and may his memory for us always be a Blessing.
